Baltimore Pet Photography: Humane Society of Harford County

May 4, 2010

I’ve been volunteering at the Humane Society of Harford County here in Fallston, MD.  I absolutely adore it! As sad as it can be thinking about all the homeless animals, there can be a lot of joy in it as well.  A few days ago, I was taking some pictures of recently arrived cats and helped a family find 2 cats that would get along.  Originally they had intended to take home kittens but after seeing their daughter interact with them, they decided that older cats might not be as intimidated by her energy. They ended up choosing one of my favorites.  Moments like that are  worth it!

Meet Hazel.  She’s a slightly cross eyed sweetie pie.

This is Marf. I’m not sure who named him, but it sort of fits. He should have been adopted long ago but for some reason keeps getting passed over. He’s extremely friendly and will be your buddy until you have to leave for the day.  And I just got word that he was actually adopted today. Yay for Marf!

Trixie is a big sweetheart, and how can you not love those bright green eyes?

CeCe has also been in the shelter just a little too long. You can tell some of the cats start to get sad/irritated after about 2 months. Can you really blame them?  I’d go batty in a cage!

This beautiful boy is Taji.  He’s gorgeous and tall with bright blue eyes.  A big mush that’ll curl up in your lap in a heartbeat! I just heard that he was adopted today as well.  Maybe this blog post(which I started yesterday and saved to finish today) was good luck for them! =)

If you love animals and have a shelter nearby, I definitely recommend volunteering.  I know at HSHC, you only have to put in a minimum of 2 hours per month which is seriously easy to do!

Oh yeah, and May the 4th Be with You! ahaha. Happy Star Wars Day from someone who’s barely ever seen it yet thinks the holiday pun is the best thing ever.
